UT Jason Polan
2021 Collection
Art Direction, Design
2020—2021
Jason Polan was an exceptionally talented artist and a genuinely kind person. He had the rare gift of making the most everyday things beautiful and interesting. It was an extension of the way he lived his life.

After Jason’s untimely passing, UT wanted to create a collection that would both celebrate his life and spread his work across the world. From there a collection that featured his iconic illustrations from his time drawing in both NYC and Tokyo.

Wanting to convey not only how great Jason’s artwork is, but also how great of a person Jason truly was, this leaflet features a “zine” style insert as well as large leaf pages featuring the collection itself. Included are interviews by friends and family, highlights from Jason’s career, and his work together with UNIQLO. The center spreads featured four tearable pages which could be used to draw freely and join the World’s Biggest Drawing Club, inspired from Jason’s own “Taco Bell Drawing Club”

This dual approach was also carried to video formats, expanding on the leaflet with two works created including product-focused lovable motion graphics, and a short documentary Remembering Jason Polan by acclaimed director and cinematographer Wilson Cameron.

UNIQLO Barcelona
Art Direction, Design
2017
The UNIQLO Creative Team was tasked with developing the Store Opening materials for UNIQLO Barcelona, the brand's first introduction to the Spanish market. In order to help the brand integrate into the local community, creative was developed that could both speak to the local visual language and the brand's Japanese roots.

In doing so, UNIQLO hoped to place itself alongside the ubiquitous "Flor de Barcelona" street tiles, designed originally by renouned architect and planner Josep Puig i Cadafalch and ESCOFET, creating a special logo lock-up to support the opening communication materials.

To further extend the metaphor, we collaborated with Barcelona’s local Hey Studio, commissioning a series of illustrations depiciting traditional interior floor tiles.

The end result was a duality of visual languages and perspectives: From outside, respectfully observing as newcomers, and From within, sharing this beautiful, local vernacular with the world.

UNIQLO U Catalog
2020 Spring/Summer
Art Direction, Design
2019
In keeping with the tone and manner of the Uniqlo U promotional materials, the focus was telling as simple and direct story as possible — in other words, let the styling and photography speak for themselves.

However, for this season, we took on a new challenge of adding bilingual insights to select products which came directly from directly interviewing Christophe Lemaire and his team in Paris.

The solution to connect these two opposing ideas was to integrate season-relevant colored half-pages as a nested guide to the season’s collection.

Both Men’s and Women’s collection have a cover, with contents meeting at a mixed central spread that includes the interview text from Lemaire himself.
